Wedding suit trends 2026

The top wedding suit trends you need to know for 2026.

Your bottle bin’s on the verge of breaking, the meat sweats have just about stopped and you never want to see another shiny, purple Quality Street wrapper (until next Christmas, anyway) again. It must be the start of 2026 and a whole new catalogue of suit trends.

Just as we did last year, we’re looking ahead to the suit trends that we expect to take groomswear by storm in the next 12 months. From earthy tones, to rich velvets and the continued love for blacktails, we reckon it’s going to be a pretty varied year.

Read on for Hunter & Grey’s forecast for suit trends in 2026.

Our top 5 suit trends for 2026.

Earthy tones dominate.

If there’s one clear winner already emerging for 2026, it’s earthy, grounded shades. 2025 saw this colour palette boom in popularity (not just in the wedding world, but clothing in general) and for groomswear, it’s proven far more versatile than you might expect.

Gone are the days when earthy tones are only suited to an autumnal wedding – we’ve sold and hired these shades across the entire year and expect the same in 2026.

Mahogany flannel was the surprise breakout star. After gathering dust in our store for a couple of years, it’s suddenly starting flying off the shelves. We can see why. It’s warm, rich and feels sophisticated without being stuffy.

Our Stone flannel range has also crept up in its popularity. It’s clean and modern, plus super wearable for weddings whatever the vibe; a go-to for couples after something timeless but fresh.

Both shades work brilliantly with softer accents – particularly blush and dusty pinks – making them a solid choice for spring and summer weddings, as well as autumn and winter ceremonies looking to steer clear of anything too dark.

Keeping it cool with inky navy.

Navy never goes out of fashion, but in 2026, it’s all about the right kind of navy. Think deeper, inky tones that look first-class in the photo album and real life.

We’re introducing this shade to our hire collection this year, and expectations are high. It’s sharp and incredibly flattering, whether worn as a three-piece or stripped back with an open collar for a more relaxed feel.

Inky navy offers something reliable but less predictable than traditional, bright blues. Pair it with crisp whites, soft neutrals or richer accessories for a complete, 10 out of 10 look.

Smooth velvet.

Velvet is set to take a seat at the top table in 2026 – but, in its most refined and elegant form.

Because velvet is all about effortless class. Less overly bold, novelty colours, and more smooth finishes and richer, wearable tones. Picture deep, forest greens, classic blacks and darker neutrals. Flawless.

We predict velvet being used as a statement jacket alongside classic tailoring in the year ahead. This is ideal for winter weddings, adding that touch of texture and personality without screaming for attention.

Done just the right amount, and it feels luxurious, modern and – above all – stylish.

Black tails still reign supreme.

If you thought black tails were having their moment last year, they’re not done yet.

Formal, dramatic and undeniably timeless, black tails remain the ultimate choice for grooms wanting to make a statement. There’s something about the structure and classic nature of tails that still resonates, especially for traditional venues.

In 2026, we expect to see a continuation of the vibe we saw in 2025 – black tails, but make it chill. Simpler waistcoats, less fuss overall and dashes of additional colour to smooth out the look.

The result is a look that feels classic without feeling dated, and one that will never make you cringe when you look back at the photos.

Made-to-measure all the way.

Grooms have been taking full advantage of made-to-measure suits, and we expect this trend to continue growing throughout 2026.

Made-to-measure are super popular as it offers a sweet spot in between bespoke tailoring and ‘off the rack’. You still receive numerous bespoke tailoring benefits, but you begin with a base pattern. So, rather than starting from scratch (which comes with a hefty price tag and a visit to Savile Row), you’ll work with a suit design that you already love, but it needs some tweaking. It’ll then be adjusted to fit your measurements, with opportunities still available to customise fabric, size and those finer details.
