Suit up for 2025 | Must-have suit trends for the year ahead.

Now that we’re knee deep into 2025, it feels like a fine time to look at what’s in (and out) for the world of wedding suits. And it’s safe to say that we have seen a major shift in suit trends throughout the first quarter. From grooms saying “ciao for now” to the blue suit, to black tails making an almighty comeback, grooms and guests are turning up the style this year.

So, whether you’re planning a summer celebration or a winter wedding (or something in between), we’ve got you covered. Read on for the Hunter & Grey’s lowdown on what we’re seeing as the biggest suit trends and why 2025 is the year of the Bold Groom.

Our top 4 suit trends for 2025.

Blue is out, beige is in 🎨

One of the most surprising suit trends for 2025 is that blue suits have sunk into the ether. Since 2022, our signature blue flannel suit has trumped our entire range – this year, it’s gathering dust, drowning its sorrows in a dark corner of the store.

Interestingly, it’s the beige and brown wedding suits that have been taking centre stage. We’re definitely feeling this as the colour of the year… And it’s easy to see why. Beige and brown groom suits feel both modern and timeless. They’re great for spring and summer weddings – picture teaming them up with botanical prints of pastel tones – but can also work perfectly for autumn/winter weddings alongside complementary textures and an earthy colour palette.

We’ve seen this colour slot seamlessly with rustic themed weddings and countryside venues – it also matches effortlessly with virtually all bridal colours… And you know what they say, happy bride, happy life!

H&G top tip: “Beige isn’t basic – it’s a blank canvas. The beauty of this trend is its versatility: dress it up with earthy tones for a moody autumn look, or keep it breezy with pastels for summer vows. Either way, you’ll stand out without shouting. Blue had its moment; now it’s beige’s time to shine.”

The return of black tails 🎩

This one came as a surprise to us too; after years of casual chic, black tails are a suit trend that’s making a comeback.

Especially for upscale weddings, black tails are seeing a hefty resurgence. In fact, we’ve booked more this past four months than the last four years combined. This signals a shift towards ceremony-based weddings and traditional vibes, ideal for city venues and formal church weddings.

However, don’t fall into the trap of assuming that your big day has to be the next royal wedding to make it black tail worthy. Fashion rules have loosened, and many of our groom parties are wearing black tails in less formal settings. The great news? They still look modern, but never overdressed. Some of the ways that we achieve this is through more relaxed fabrics and cuts, playing with colour in the details (swapping a traditional pale grey waistcoat for a soft pastel can make all the difference) and adding personality with extras such as printed ties, colourful pocket squares or even funky socks.

H&G top tip: “Black tails aren’t just for Buckingham Palace. Styled right, they’ll become the centrepiece of a smart, stylish and slightly unconventional wedding. Remember – it’s all about the attitude, not just the tradition.”

Keep it sharp, lads 🤵🏽‍♂️

And it isn’t just black tails. We’ve seen a big ol’ love for the formal vibe across the board. Relaxed tailoring is becoming less and less popular, and more of our customers are opting for the ‘smarter is better’ approach.

With this suit trend, we’re seeing more traditional wedding suits stepping into the spotlight; our Knightbridge style, in particular, has been flying off the shelves. Single button jackets, that slightly shiny material, classic colours and tailored fits are going to be up there with leading trends of the year – and we’re here for it.

We also expect to see customers choosing the formal three-piece ensemble with traditional accessories (think cufflinks, pocket squares and squeaky clean black shoes). The great thing about these smart suits is they work perfectly beyond the wedding aisle. So, if you want to re-use, it won’t look out of place in a corporate work environment.

H&G top tip: “You can still give formal suits a modern twist. Whether it’s playing with your accent colour or having a bit of personality woven into your ensemble (a floral or geometric lining can look pretty damn epic), there are plenty of ways to give your look a fresh twist without going over the top.”

Statement patterns and classic fabrics

Not to blow our own trumpet, but statement fabrics and textures are a bit of a speciality for us here at Hunter & Grey’s. So, we proper love it when a groom wants to go bold when it comes to their wedding suit.

Thankfully, 2025 suit trends are still showing us that suits with a side helping of personality are dominating. Our Liberty ties are proving popular for summer weddings, but going forward we’re also seeing a lot of interest for spots and stripes.

However, grooms are veering down the more classic route for their waistcoasts – recent months have seen next to no patterned waistcoats. Instead, our customers are choosing classic elegance and plain designs.

H&G top tip: “If you do choose a bold statement tie, anchor the look with a classic, neutral waistcoat. It means your standout pieces can really shine and give you a timeless edge. Afterall, the last thing you want is cringing when you look back at your photo album in 10 years’ time!”
